There's plenty to do in Vacaville this weekend!

VACAVILLE - There are many events taking place in Vacaville this weekend!

Saturday includes the annual Recreation Expo, where residents can sign up for classes, events, summer camps and other activities. The expo takes place at Three Oaks Community Center, 100 Alamo Drive, from 8 a.m. to noon.

Once you're done signing up for your classes, check out the Spring Bazaar and Rummage Sale in the parking lot of Three Oaks.

Feel like an early morning run? Head to Lagoon Valley for the annual Loop the Lagoon event, a fundraiser for the Vacaville Public Education Foundation. On-site registration begins at 7 a.m.

Davis to hold Bridal Faire April 23

DAVIS - The City of Davis Community Services Department will host a Bridal Faire on Saturday, April 23 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Center, located at 203 East Fourteenth Street in Davis.

Bridal fairs offer couples the opportunity to talk with wedding professionals who will ultimately make their wedding day a memorable occasion. Over 20 vendors including florists, caterers, venues, photographers, and more will be on hand to help you plan your special day. For a full list of vendors, click here.

College and Career Day event seeks presenters

VACAVILLE - "Take Charge of Your Future College and Career Day" is seeking presenters to participate in this event designed to help middle and high school youth learn more about their career and college choices.

The event, scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 2 at the Ulatis Community Center provides an opportunity for professionals working in business, government and education to mentor youth in career choices and life destinations through interactive displays.

Davis Farmer's Market celebrates Pig Day March 5

DAVIS - The Davis Farmers Market's 20th annual Pig Day, will be held on Saturday, March 5, celebrating pigs, food and local agriculture. You'll find baby pigs, people in pig costumes, pig crafts for kids, and pig-out eats at the Davis Farmers Market from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm in Central Park at 4th and C Streets in Davis.

Market manager, Randii MacNear, calls Pig Day the shining star of the market's events. "There is no other event like Pig Day in all of California. Our big pig gig celebrates the pigs rightful place as one of man’s most intelligent and useful domesticated animals, and it's great fun for the whole family."

Check out the petting zoo of piglets and craft booths where children can make pig tails, pig noses as well as piggie faces. Booths are sponsored by the Davis Parent Nursery School and the Davis Community Church Nursery School.Pony Ranch Parties will provide the pony rides.

Learn to sew your own prom dress

VACAVILLE - Never worry about somebody showing up with the same gown! Save money and get exactly what you want with a new class offered by the Vacaville Community Services Department, "Sew Your Own Prom Dress."

Learn to customize a pattern for fit and design, and how to select and sew glam fabrics. Work at your own speed and become a Prom Fashionista!

The four-week courses will be held Saturday, March 5 - 26 and April 2 - 23, from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the McBride Senior Center, located at 91 Town Square. The registration fee is $65.

If you're not going to the prom, but still want to learn how to sew, then "Beginning Sewing" is for you. Learn the basics of your machine, how to use a pattern and how to pick fabrics. Work at your own speed and learn the fun art of sewing.

These four-week courses will be held Wednesday, March 9 - 30 and April 7 - 28, from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the McBride Senior Center.

Need to learn how to fix your car?

VACAVILLE - Get your wrenches out and get ready to gain confidence in auto mechanics by enrolling in a new Basic Automotive Maintenance class offered by the City of Vacaville Community Service Department.

The two 4-week courses for adults 18 years and older, will be held March 2-29 and Apr. 4-25 at the Ulatis and Three Oaks community centers from 6 p.m. - 6:45 p.m.

The course is an introductory study in the basic care of your car, and how to perform service maintenance and minor repairs that can save you money. Participants will acquire hands-on laboratory experience performing basic auto maintenance.

The registration fee is $41 and pre-registration is required due to limited space.
