SAN FRANCISCO, CA - The Bay Bridge project is well underway and should be finished in 2013, according to Caltrans and the BayBridge Info project.
They've released a 360 degree look at what the new East Span will look like. It is a completely new section that will stretch from Oakland to Yerba Buena Island with two side-by-side decks.
The westbound span from San Francisco to the island will still be a double-deck structure that has been reinforced.
The Bay Bridge will also be open for Labor Day traffic this year in and out of San Francisco.
Caltrans has completed retrofit work on four other Bay Area bridges: the San-Mateo-Hayward Bridge, the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge, the Carquinez Bridge and the Benicia-Martinez Bridge.
The Golden Gate Bridge is undergoing a seismic retrofit, which is being managed by the Golden Gate Highway, Bridge and Transportation District.
