The Yolo County Sheriff’s Department said a 17-year-old male was arrested today for stealing and killing a pig.
The pig was reported stolen on Saturday by Marika Osegueda, a 17-year-old Woodland High School student. The pig was reported as stolen from Laugenour Land Lab, located at 39839 County Road in Woodland. The pig was being raised by Osegueda as part of the Future Farmers of America program.
Officials said deputies located a bloody hand print on Saturday on the gate leading to the missing pig’s pen and found the pig’s pen covered in blood. Police said they contacted and interviewed a 17-year-old male from Woodland, which led to the teen’s arrest.
He is being charged with felony grand theft and felony animal cruelty and is currently at the Yolo County Juvenile Hall. The pig’s remains have been found. The investigation is still ongoing.
