Davis man sentenced to 8 years for DUI injuring teen | Crime
WOODLAND, CA - A Davis man who caused a crash that has left a Winters teenager in a coma will spend the next eight years in prison, a Yolo County judge has ruled.
Rogelio Cardenas Sanchez, 29, previously pleaded no contest to great bodily injury while driving under the influence. He was accused of blowing through a stop sign on May 19 and crashing into the passenger side of a car where the victim sat. Yolo County Chief Deputy District Attorney Jonathan Raven said the girl suffered major trauma and was airlifted to a hospital. She lapsed into a coma and now is on a feeding tube.
The teen was being driven by her father and they were returning from visiting his wife in the hospital, Raven said.
Sanchez was sentenced in Yolo County Superior Court last week.
